Trainee Project Leader – Noize Factory Glasgow

Based in Barmulloch, Toonspeak involves young people in free high quality creative activities. We work with professional artists who challenge and inspire young people to create their own performances and manage their own projects – all of our work is young people led. We aim to expand young people’s imaginations to help them reach their full potential and to inspire positive change within communities of disadvantage across the city. We ensure that anyone, regardless of experience, ability or personal circumstances can take part.

Noize Factory is a new youth led music project funder by the Youth Music Initiative (YMI) for ages 8-13, combining digital music technology, singing and percussion with a focus on group-work, collaboration, confidence building, self-directed learning and composition. This new project complements Toonspeak’s established theatre programme, developing transferable skills in performance and sound design. Noize Factory will empower young people by supporting them to take control of their own ideas; boosting their self-esteem and helping them to develop improved confidence and transferable skills.

We are now recruiting for a Trainee Project Leader who will be employed to support our Noize Factory project. They will attend each session and provide support with administration, promotion of positive behaviour, sharing of skills and incrementally delivery of workshops and lessons.

You will have:

  • An interest in developing teaching practise in a youth led environment.
  • Good level of digital skills – We use Ableton Live software and hardware for our Noize Factory, any prior knowledge of this system would be an advantage but is not a necessity as training will be provided.
  • Interest in and ideally some experience of working in areas of high deprivation and with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Passion for Youth Music.
  • Availability on Thursdays (two sessions running from 4:30-8pm)

A range of training and coaching will be offered appropriate to the successful applicants needs, interests and aspirations.
